Job summary

Reed is seeking an experienced Technical Support Engineer to join its engineering team and provide nationwide technical support for generator and power generation equipment across the UK. This role blends hands-on engineering with mentoring and project support.

The ideal candidate has a background in power generation, diesel engines, and electrical systems, plus a proven field service track record and strong diagnostic skills.

Qualifications

• Relevant engineering qualification or apprenticeship.
• Proven experience servicing, maintaining and repairing generator sets.
• Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
• Knowledge of LV distribution and changeover systems.
• Previous field service or technical support experience is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support to engineers and customers across multiple locations.
• Diagnose and resolve generator, electrical, and control system faults.
• Commission, repair, modify and upgrade power generation equipment.
• Support introduction of new equipment and engineering improvements.
• Conduct site surveys, commissioning visits and technical investigations.
• Assist with engineering training and mentoring activities.
• Support major projects and specialist customer requirements.
• Ensure all work complies with health and safety and company procedures.
