Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join the Transmission & Distribution team in Manchester. You will design MV/LV systems to DNO standards and collaborate across internal and external teams on projects spanning private, industrial, and renewables sectors.

The role requires a degree in Electrical Engineering, knowledge of UK design standards, and experience in protection, control, and documentation. Hybrid working with opportunities for career growth are offered.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering with proper professional understanding.
• Knowledge of British and DNO design standards.
• Experience as a Trainee/Assistant Electrical Engineer or graduate training in Energy/Power sector.

Responsibilities

• Carry out Medium Voltage and Low Voltage design to DNO standards.
• Provide Open/Closed Ring and Radial feeder solutions.
• Carry out intake and distribution substation layout design (MV/LV).
• Design primary plant and equipment (MV/LV).
• Produce protective/control diagrams and wiring diagrams.
• Perform cable sizing, routing, and termination drawings (MV/LV).
• Model earthing grids and perform touch/step/transfer calculations.
• Interface designs for SCADA, auxiliary supply, and metering.
• Provide MV/LV standby and changeover solutions.
• Prepare technical specifications and support procurement.
• Liaise with suppliers/clients and review client scope.
