Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Senior Electrical Design Engineer for Transmission & Distribution in Manchester, offering hybrid work. You will deliver MV/LV designs to DNO standards and support substations, protection, and interfacing with SCADA systems across energy, industrial, and renewables sectors.

You will lead design work through the project lifecycle, engage with clients and suppliers, and collaborate within a multidisciplinary team to implement robust electrical solutions.

Qualifications

• Degree or relevant qualification in Electrical Engineering.
• Knowledge of British and DNO specific design standards.
• Experience as Trainee/Assistant Electrical Engineer or Graduate Training in Energy/Power sector.
• Understanding of Power Systems characteristics.
• Ability to work with internal and external parties in a collaborative culture.
• Experience in writing clear and concise documentation.

Responsibilities

• Carry out Medium Voltage and Low Voltage design work to DNO Standards.
• Provide Open and Closed Ring and Radial Feeder supply network solutions.
• Carry out Intake and Distribution Substation Layout design (Medium Voltage and Low Voltage).
• Conduct primary plant and equipment design (Medium and Low Voltage).
• Produce secondary protection and control solution and diagrams.
• Cable sizing calculations, routing, section, and termination drawings (Medium and Low Voltage).
• Electrical system, earthing grid design and modelling, and touch/step/transfer calculations.
• Produce interface designs for SCADA System and metering.
• Provide MV/LV standby and back-up power supply changeover solutions.
• Write technical specifications and assist with procurement.
