Job summary

Join AECOM's Transmission & Distribution team as a Senior Electrical Design Engineer. You’ll design Medium/Low Voltage electrical layouts to DNO standards, collaborate with clients and suppliers, and contribute to protection, control, and SCADA interface design across diverse energy projects.

Qualifications

• Degree or relevant qualification in Electrical Engineering.
• Knowledge of British and DNO specific design standards.
• Proven track record as a Trainee or Assistant Electrical Engineer, or completion of a Graduate Training programme post degree in design/construct environments within Energy/Power.
• Understanding of functional characteristics of Power Systems.
• Ability to work with internal and external parties in a collaborative culture.
• Experience in writing clear and concise documentation.

Responsibilities

• Carry out Medium Voltage and Low Voltage design work to DNO standards.
• Provide Open and Closed Ring and Radial Feeder supply network solutions.
• Carry out intake and distribution substation layout design (Medium Voltage and Low Voltage).
• Conduct primary plant and equipment design works (Medium and Low Voltage).
• Produce secondary protection and control solution diagrams and wiring schematics.
• Conduct cable sizing, routing, sections and termination drawings (Medium and Low Voltage).
• Model electrical system earthing grid and calculations for touch/step/transfer potential.
• Produce interface designs for SCADA, auxiliary supply and COP metering.
• Provide MV/LV standby and back-up power supply changeover solutions.
