Job summary

GM Performance Power Units in Cardiff, United Kingdom, seeks an experienced engineering leader to drive development of the MGU e-motor components for the hybrid powertrain. You will oversee cross-disciplinary teams—electromagnetics, mechanical design, thermal, controls, and advanced manufacturing—to maximize power density, efficiency, and race reliability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or related).
• Masters/PhD with 5+ years preferred.
• Experience in high-speed electric motors, motorsport ERS, or hybrid powertrains is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead cross-disciplinary teams to integrate and optimize the MGU within the hybrid powertrain.
• Oversee prototype development, dynamometer testing, and data-driven iterations.
• Direct design reviews, FMEA, and ensure FIA F1 regulation compliance.
