Job summary

GM Performance Power Units seeks a senior engineer to lead cross-disciplinary teams optimizing the MGU within a cutting-edge hybrid powertrain. You will drive prototype development, testing, and data-driven iterations to deliver race-ready solutions with maximum power density and reliability.

You will oversee design reviews, FMEA, and regulatory compliance, while advancing materials research and manufacturing practices for scalable e-motor production in a startup-like racing environment backed

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering required.
• 8+ years in high-speed electric motors or hybrid powertrains.
• Experience with CAD/CAE/PLM tools (NX, Teamcenter) and rotor-stator integration.
• FIA F1 power unit regulations knowledge is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead cross-disciplinary teams to optimize the MGU in the hybrid powertrain for maximum power density and reliability.
• Oversee prototype development, dynamometer testing, and data-driven iterations.
• Direct design reviews, FMEA processes, and FIA compliance related to MGU power, weight, RPM limits, and safety interfaces.
• Drive R&D into advanced materials and manufacturing methods for scalable e-motor production.
