Job summary

WSP in the UK & Ireland is seeking an experienced Senior to Associate Mechanical Engineer for our Birmingham office, focusing on data centre projects within the Mission Critical Facilities team. You will drive the design of mechanical systems, mentor junior engineers and liaise with clients across UK/EMEA regions.

Qualifications

• Chartered engineer status with CIBSE or IMechE, or working toward chartership.
• Experience designing mechanical systems for data centres.
• Knowledge of UK and EU regulations, design guides.
• Familiarity with Uptime Institute Tier Classification.
• Experience with RevitMEP and AutoCAD.
• Ability to lead and mentor within a MEPS team.

Responsibilities

• Design mechanical distribution systems for data centres (CHW, HVAC, LTHW, etc.).
• Provide client guidance on mechanical system options to meet needs.
• Lead the design of data centre mechanical systems and equipment.
• Produce design development notes and written reports of system options.
• Create technical specifications for mechanical systems per standards and client requirements.
• Coordinate with Architects and Structural engineers.
• Prepare calculations and tender documentation.
• Monitor installation to ensure compliance with specs and safety codes.
