Job summary

WSP is seeking an experienced Mechanical Technical Director for the Data Centres sector, based in Birmingham with a London focus, leading a team of engineers within the Mission Critical Facilities group.

You will drive design and delivery of high-performance mechanical systems, oversee budgets and client relationships across the UK/EMEA, and mentor engineers to deliver innovative energy-efficient solutions in a fast-moving market.

Qualifications

• Chartered Engineer status (CIBSE/IET/IMechE) or eligible.
• Extensive mechanical engineering knowledge for data centres.
• Strong leadership to guide engineers and technicians.
• Ability to manage budgets, timelines and quality.
• Excellent communication to convey technical concepts to stakeholders.
• Adaptability to rapidly evolving DC sector.
• Customer-focused with ability to develop client relationships.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day management and foster team spirit.
• Develop client relationships and brand within the UK/EMEA.
• Meet budgets monthly and annually; assist with budget planning.
• Collaborate with director to implement strategic initiatives.
• Share knowledge with global colleagues and drive best practices.
• Drive profitable work-winning and forecasting for the team.
• Oversee team performance including pipeline, finance, and operations.
• Engage with clients, developers, contractors and architects to strengthen relationships.
• Serve as the client's main point of contact and ensure excellent care.
• Identify opportunities to develop additional business and new commissions.
