Job summary

WSP is seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer for its London office, focused on Data Centre projects within the Mission Critical Facilities team. You will lead electrical design for data centre systems, coordinate with architects and engineers, and deliver technical specifications and client guidance.

You will work in a hybrid model, collaborating with a global project team and contributing to landmark facilities across the UK and Europe.

Qualifications

• Chartered status with CIBSE or IET (or working towards Chartered status) or equivalent experience
• Technical knowledge of relevant UK & EU regulations, design guides, etc
• IT literate with a technical understanding of relevant IT packages e.g. Trimble (formally Amtech)
• Understanding of ETAP software for HV modelling (Fault current, current flow & harmonics)
• Understanding of Neher-McGrath method for calculating underground cable temperatures & ampacity
• Understanding of Tier classifications as defined by The Uptime Institute, TIA942 and EN50600
• Able to work as part of a team as well as lead, direct and mentor individuals
• Understanding of RevitMEP or other 3D design software to allocate/direction of work on projects
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD to allocate/direction of work on projects

Responsibilities

• Develop conceptual electrical distribution designs from EHV to LV including HV equipment, UPS, switchgear and monitoring systems
• Provide client advice on electrical systems to meet business needs
• Lead the design of data centre electrical systems and equipment
• Produce design development notes and written reports on system options
• Prepare technical specifications and ensure compliance with standards and client requirements
• Coordinate with Architect and Structural engineers
