As a Quantity Surveyor, you will join a team of cost managers and project managers on various projects in the energy sector. Your role will support project teams with contract procurement documentation and the commercial administration of contracts during execution to help deliver our clients' programs, projects, and business objectives.
The Quantity Surveyor provides professional commercial support to the client’s program/project teams through efficient contract management, cost control, risk & opportunity identification, and forecasting in support of the Project Execution Plans.
You should possess excellent interpersonal skills to build positive and effective relationships within project teams and the wider client organization.
• Work independently within established financial systems to monitor and review project costs and variances on small commercial, regeneration, or residential projects, to control costs.
• Manage medium to large-scale cost projects or significant components of cost management assignments, ensuring the delivery of scope within deadlines.
• Understand and adhere to business risk management principles, communicating concerns to senior managers to mitigate impact.
• Provide advice on risk management principles to ensure compliance with organizational processes.
• Analyze data to identify trends, prepare documentation such as delivery plans, and support decision-making.
• Review and analyze existing cost and commercial management processes, sharing knowledge for service improvement.
• Interact with internal and external stakeholders, applying technical knowledge to ensure project delivery meets expectations.
• Provide technical advice and guidance within the area, supporting colleagues with cost management queries and sharing knowledge.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand their needs, resolve issues, and enhance client satisfaction.
Qualifications & Experience:
• Relevant professional qualification or chartered status with a recognized institution (e.g., RICS, CIPS, ICE, CIOB).
• Experience with NEC suite of contracts.
• Experience in delivering analysis and insights.
• Strong self-management and prioritization skills, capable of working under pressure.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including stakeholder influence.
• Ability to manage a project from inception to completion.
