Job summary

NFP, part of the Aon group, is seeking a Senior Claims Handler for its Commercial Insurance team in Birmingham. You will manage a caseload of complex claims and serve as a technical referral point for less experienced handlers, ensuring strong client advocacy throughout the process.

The role requires 5–10 years in commercial claims, solid knowledge of policy wordings, SME experience, and mentoring ability. Proficiency with Acturis and MS Office is preferred; CII qualifications are a plus.

Qualifications

• 5–10 years' experience in commercial insurance claims handling.
• Strong knowledge of policy wordings and coverage interpretation.
• Experience with SME clients across sectors.
• Track record of managing complex, high-value, or contentious claims.
• Excellent negotiation and client advocacy skills.
• Ability to mentor and support junior team members.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Proficient in claims systems (Acturis preferred) and MS Office.
• Committed to ongoing professional development.

Responsibilities

• Handle complex and technical claims across multiple commercial lines.
• Interpret policy wordings and coverage issues through technical analysis.
• Act as trusted advisor to clients through advocacy with insurers and loss adjusters.
