The Complex Community Care Teams are innovative and dynamic multidisciplinary CAMHS teams that provide essential mental health support to enhance the social and psychological development of young people who are experiencing complex mental health difficulties.

The multi-disciplinary teams (MDT) include Consultant Child Psychiatrist’s and mental health practitioners with skills in a range of therapeutic modalities/specialisms, including but not limited to CBT, Family Therapy, SFP, IPT-A, art psychotherapy, counselling and non-medical prescribing. The successful candidate will work alongside other clinical psychologists within ELCAS and will join a large network of clinical psychologists as part of the Specialist Network in LSCFT.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, hardworking individual with excellent relational and interpersonal skills and a genuine commitment to working with children, young people and families.

Candidates not yet meeting all requirements for appointment at Band 8a can be considered for appointment at Band 7. Progression to the 8a pay band would be conditional upon demonstration of the required competencies via evaluation and job performance.

Responsibilities
  • The successful candidate will work in one of the Complex Community Care Teams, delivering high-quality, evidence-based clinical care and treatment for children, young people and their families, and will provide a psychological perspective to cases.
  • Manage a caseload of complex young people with a variety of mental health disorders up to the age of 18, and work across East Lancashire with travel to and from various clinical locations as required.
  • Provide high-quality specialist psychological assessment, formulation, evidence-based psychological therapy and evaluation, including ROMS (Routine Outcome Monitoring Systems).
  • Supervise assistants, trainees and clinical psychologists (band 8a or equivalent).
  • Offer advice and consultation to non-psychological colleagues and to other non-professional carers where psychological intervention is a key aspect of treatment programmes.
  • Work autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the service’s policies and procedures.
  • Utilise research skills for audit, policy and service development within the area served by the service.
  • Contribute to service development, training and work towards leading on a specialist area of interest (band 8a).
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Qualified clinical psychologist with eligibility for registration and, ideally, experience within CAMHS or a similar setting.
  • Ideally eligible for Band 8a with progression contingent upon demonstration of required competencies via evaluation and job performance; candidates not meeting all requirements may be considered for Band 7 with progression to Band 8a subject to criteria.
