Job summary

A prominent NHS Trust in the UK is seeking a Senior Clinical Fellow to participate in a trauma rota within Major Trauma Centres. Job description
Job Overview

We are seeking a Senior Clinical Fellow. The role will be a participant on a 1 in 11 middle grade rota in a Major Trauma Centre (MTC) and offers an excellent opportunity for a suitable candidate wishing to increase experience in the management of Orthopaedic Trauma and complex sub‑specialty care.

The post holder will work across Royal Preston Hospital and Chorley District General Hospital. It is initially for 6 months with a possible 6‑month extension. The post is not formally approved for training but provides a study leave budget for attendance at national trauma courses and conferences.

Responsibilities & Working Pattern
  • Participate in a full‑time 1 in 11 trauma rota with a mixture of fixed trauma operating sessions, fixed outpatient sessions, trauma on‑call commitments and trauma weeks.
  • Assist senior consultants with trauma theatre, on‑call duties and senior ward review.
  • Engage in elective operating sessions and collaborate with the Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic elective and trauma surgery team.
  • Contribute to portfolio development through logbook, CBD, DOPS, teaching, audit and research.
  • Work closely with 18 Trauma Consultants, with planned activities adjusted during Trauma weeks.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Pre‑ or Post‑CCT candidate or candidate aspiring for CESR.
  • Demonstrated interest and experience in Orthopaedic Trauma within a Major Trauma Centre.
  • Commitment to full‑time clinical practice and research/teaching activities.
