Job summary

Barratt is seeking a capable Design & Technical professional to oversee Civil and Structural engineering for housing developments. You will coordinate internal teams and liaise with external consultants to deliver compliant, value-driven infrastructure designs.

The role requires strong communication, a track record in residential projects, and the ability to influence stakeholders while prioritising tasks to meet project milestones. Hybrid working is supported where possible.

Qualifications

• Minimum Associate Membership of an Engineering institute and 5 years post-qualification experience or HNC/HND with 10 years post-qualification experience.
• Demonstrable track record in residential development and ability to manage input from Consultant Engineers.
• Excellent communicator with influencing ability; focused on results and prioritisation of tasks.

Responsibilities

• Manage and co-ordinate Civil and Structural Engineering matters for Developments, leading the internal engineering team.
• Oversee design and detailing by external Consulting Engineers for external works including Section 38, 104 and S278.
• Prepare pre-purchase appraisals advising on development constraints and 'abnormal' items.
• Maintain evaluation of Consultant performance to ensure value engineering and standards.
• Assist in timely discharge of building regulations and planning conditions.
• Ensure adoption agreements and maintenance/adoptions are secured in line with targets.
• Value engineer consultants' designs for fitness for purpose and best value.
• Establish good working relationships with Site staff and Department Heads.
• Comply with Health, Safety & Environment Policy and drive continuous improvement.
