Job summary

Barratt Redrow PLC seeks an experienced engineer to oversee infrastructure and groundworks design, manage external consultants, and coordinate with internal teams and authorities. You will ensure high-quality schemes and timely approvals across developments.

The role requires strong communication, leadership, and technical IT skills in AutoCAD/Revit and related design tools. Hybrid working is offered with a focus on delivering value and quality across sites.

Qualifications

• Minimum Associate Membership of an Engineering institute and 5 years post qualification experience preferred.
• Demonstrable track record in residential development and ability to confidently manage all areas where Consultant Engineers have an input into the development process.
• Excellent communicator with ability to influence.
• Excellent leader with ability to motivate and develop team.
• Prioritise tasks to meet changing business needs.
• Competent IT skills including AutoCAD/Revit, Causeway Professional Design Suite (PDS) or MicroDrainage desirable although not essential.

Responsibilities

• Prepare pre-purchase appraisals of development opportunities advising on development constraints and ‘abnormal’ items requiring commercial provisions.
• Maintain a continuous evaluation of Consultant performance and design capabilities to ensure service delivery standards and scheme proposals adhere to best practice in value engineering.
• Assist in managing the process of timely discharge of building regulations and planning conditions.
• Ensure seamless adoptions of highways and sewers on developments in the shortest possible timescales, including Section 38/278 adoptions and related processes.
• Value engineer of the Consultants designs to ensure fitness for purpose and best value.
• Ensure that Group Policy and Procedures are fully managed and controlled.
• Establish good working relationships with Site staff and Department Heads to ensure schemes are constructed as intended and to encourage feedback for future improvements.
• Comply with the Group’s Health, Safety & Environment Policy and ensure compliance throughout the team.
• Implement new ideas and methods and continue to seek ways to improve contribution to the organisation’s goals.
• Develop good working relationships with Local Authorities and knowledge of their peculiarities to secure fast, marketable approvals.
