Barratt Developments plc is seeking an experienced Civil/Structural Engineer to oversee the design of infrastructure and groundworks across developments. You will manage relationships with internal engineers, external consultants and statutory bodies, ensuring designs meet value and safety standards.

The role requires strong leadership, robust communication, and a track record in residential development. A hybrid working pattern is offered, with opportunities across sites and offices.

Qualifications

• Qualified engineer with civil/structural focus and professional registration or near.
• Proven track record in residential development and managing consultant input.
• Strong communication and influencing skills; able to prioritise in a changing business.
• Commitment to health, safety and environment policy and value engineering.

Responsabilités

• Manage and coordinate all Civil and Structural Engineering matters for Developments, leading the internal engineering team.
• Oversee design and detailing by external Consulting Engineers for external works (foundations, new estate roads, sewers) including Section 38/104/S278.
• Prepare pre-purchase appraisals of development opportunities, advising on constraints and abnormal items.
• Evaluate Consultants’ performance to ensure service delivery and value engineering standards.
• Assist in timely discharge of building regulations and planning conditions.
• Ensure adoption agreements are secured timely and maintenance/adoptions are managed.
• Value engineer Consultants’ designs for fitness for purpose and best value.
• Establish good relationships with site staff and department heads to ensure schemes are constructed as intended.
• Comply with Health, Safety & Environment Policy and implement new ideas to improve contribution and reputation.
• Develop relationships with Local Authorities and leverage knowledge of local procedures for fast approvals.
