Job summary

Barratt Redrow plc is seeking an experienced Civil/Structural Engineer to oversee design for developments, manage internal and external engineering input, and ensure value-engineered, compliant solutions. The role involves coordinating consultants, liaising with authorities, and driving efficient delivery on site.

Reporting to the Technical Manager or Director, you will supervise design execution, approvals, and integration with project teams while aligning with Barratt Redrow’s sustainability

Qualifications

• Minimum Associate Membership of an Engineering institute and 5 years post qualification experience preferred or minimum HNC/HND with 10 years post qualification experience
• Demonstrable track record in residential development and ability to confidently manage all areas where Consultant Engineers have an input
• Excellent communicator with ability to influence

• Ability to prioritise tasks to meet changing business needs

Responsibilities

• Manage and co-ordinate all Civil and Structural Engineering matters for Developments, leading the internal engineering team
• Oversee the design and detailing carried out by externally appointed Consulting Engineers for external works incl. foundations, new estate roads and sewers
• Prepare pre-purchase appraisals of development opportunities advising on constraints and 'abnormal' items
• Evaluate Consultant performance and design capabilities to ensure value engineering and best practice
• Assist in managing discharge of building regulations and planning conditions
• Ensure adoption agreements are secured timely and maintenance/adoptions meet targets
• Value engineer consultant designs for fitness for purpose and best value
• Establish good relationships with Site staff and Department Heads to ensure schemes are constructed as intended and to feed improvements
• Comply with Health, Safety & Environment policy and drive compliance
• Develop new ideas to improve contributions and company reputation
• Build relationships with Local Authorities and apply Housing Industry mechanics for smooth approvals
