Job summary

Aldwych Consulting is seeking a Freelance Principal Civil / Structural Design Engineer to join its internal design consultancy from Watford, with hybrid and remote working, and an initial office induction.

You will deliver civil/structural designs across water, power and industrial sectors, produce calculations and drawings, and coordinate with construction teams and the broader supply chain, maintaining robust technical solutions throughout the project lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Experience in civil and/or structural design; able to produce calculations and detailed deliverables.
• Knowledge of Eurocodes and UK industry standards.
• Able to work independently and manage workload with strong communication with teams.

Responsibilities

• Produce outline and detailed civil/structural designs.
• Prepare engineering calculations, drawings, reports and technical deliverables.
• Develop concepts into detailed engineering solutions.
• Work on projects across water, power, heavy industrial and infrastructure sectors.
• Coordinate civil and structural requirements with other disciplines.
• Provide technical guidance throughout the project lifecycle.
• Review designs to meet standards and project requirements.
• Support delivery with project teams, contractors and clients.
• Attend occasional site visits as required.
