Job summary

Aldwych Consulting Ltd is seeking an experienced Principal Civil/Structural Design Engineer for a long-term freelance role in Watford with hybrid and remote working options. You'll join the internal design consultancy, delivering across water, power and heavy industrial sectors.

You will produce outline and detailed Civil/Structural designs, perform engineering calculations, and develop concepts into robust solutions.

Qualifications

Strong experience in civil and/or structural design.
Experience producing engineering calculations and detailed design deliverables.
Experience taking an outline brief through to a developed and detailed design.
Good working knowledge of Eurocodes and UK industry standards.
Ability to work independently and manage own workload.
Strong communication with contractors, clients and other disciplines.
Civil/Structural Engineering degree or equivalent experience.
Chartered status advantageous, but hands-on design experience is essential.

Responsibilities

Produce outline and detailed civil/structural designs.
Prepare engineering calculations, drawings, reports and technical deliverables.
Develop concepts from outline to detailed design.
Work on projects across water, power, heavy industrial and infrastructure sectors.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary design and construction teams.
Coordinate civil and structural requirements with other disciplines.
Support technical delivery of projects to agreed programmes.
Provide technical guidance to other team members.
Attend occasional site visits as required.
