Job summary

AECOM is seeking an experienced Principal Civil Engineer to provide technical leadership across a portfolio of development projects, including masterplanning, detailed design, and construction support. The role spans UK and international teams, with emphasis on data centre sector growth.

You will mentor engineers, ensure technical excellence, and coordinate multi-disciplinary delivery while aligning with AECOM standards and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline is required.
• Chartered Engineer (CEng MICE or equivalent) or operating at chartered level with demonstrated leadership.
• Experience in development-led infrastructure engineering, preferably in data centre sector.
• Experience delivering complex civil infrastructure projects with design of road geometry, drainage, earthworks, pavements, and underground services.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic civil engineering leadership and governance for development projects.
• Lead, review and approve civil infrastructure designs and specifications for site development.
• Coordinate with engineers and specialists across UK and global teams.
• Support client engagement, business development, and thought leadership while mentoring junior staff.
• Undertake project management across a portfolio of schemes.
