Job summary

AECOM is seeking an experienced Principal Civil Engineer to provide technical leadership across development projects, from due diligence to detailed design and construction support, in the UK and beyond.

You'll lead multidisciplinary teams, mentor engineers, manage client relationships, and drive governance, with a focus on data centre and infrastructure sectors.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
• Chartered Engineer (CEng/MICE) or equivalent with demonstrated leadership.
• Experience delivering development-led infrastructure projects; data centre sector a plus.
• Strong capability in design of development infrastructure including road geometry, drainage, earthworks, pavements and underground services.
• Knowledge of planning, highways, drainage, and utility approval processes.
• Understanding of BIM modelling and collaborative platforms.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic civil engineering leadership and governance for development projects.
• Lead, review and approve civil infrastructure designs and specifications.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams across the UK and globally.
• Support client engagement, business development, and sector thought leadership; mentor engineers.
• Undertake project management across a portfolio of schemes.
