Job summary

Darcy House Care Home in Matlock, Derbyshire, is recruiting a Senior Care Assistant to lead a care team and deliver high-quality, person-centred care to 78 residents. You will oversee medication, support staff, and maintain accurate records while communicating clearly with families and healthcare professionals.

This role requires NVQ Level 2 (Level 3 desirable) and medication administration competence, with weekend shifts included.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 in Health & Social Care is required.
• Level 3 qualification is desirable or willingness to work towards.

Responsibilities

• Oversee medication administration and ensure safe care.
• Monitor residents’ wellbeing and respond to changes.

Job description

Our brand-new, luxury care home is located in the beautiful town of Matlock in Derbyshire. We provide personalised Residential, Nursing, Dementia, Palliative & Nursing care for 78-residents.

Senior Care Assistant Contract

• £13.71 per hour
• Contracted to 24-48 hours per week
• Paid DBS, pension, uniform provided
• 5.6 weeks annual leave (based on a full time contract)

Role Overview

As Senior Care Assistant, you will guide and support your team in delivering safe, high quality, person centred care that makes a real difference every day to our residents.

You will take responsibility for the smooth running of your shift, ensuring care is well organised, consistent and delivered to a high standard. Alongside providing hands on care, you will oversee medication, monitor residents’ wellbeing and respond to any changes, ensuring care remains safe and appropriate.

You will maintain accurate care records and work closely with colleagues, families and healthcare professionals to ensure clear communication and continuity of care.

The successful candidate will be required to work alternate weekends.

We Are Looking For

• NVQ Level 2 in Health & Social Care (minimum), with Level 3 desirable or willingness to work towards
• Medication administration training with competency is essential
• Experience supporting or leading a care team is beneficial
• Strong communication and leadership skills
• A caring, compassionate and professional approach
