Job summary

Valarian Court Care Home in Didcot, Oxfordshire, part of CARE CONCERN GROUP LIMITED, is hiring a Senior Care Assistant on a contract basis. The role requires supervising a team, managing shifts, administering medications, and ensuring high-quality, person-centred care for residents.

You will work alternating weekends with a mix of day and night shifts, maintaining accurate records and communicating with families and healthcare professionals to ensure continuity of care.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 in Health & Social Care is the minimum requirement.
• Medication administration training is essential.
• Experience supporting or leading a care team is beneficial.
• Strong communication and leadership skills are important.
• A caring, compassionate and professional approach to care.

Responsibilities

• Guide and support the care team to deliver safe, high-quality care.
• Oversee shift operations to ensure care is well organised and consistent.
• Hands-on care alongside medication administration and wellbeing monitoring.
• Maintain accurate care records and communicate with families and healthcare professionals.
• Cover alternate weekends and a mix of day/night shifts.

Job description

Based in Didcot, Oxfordshire, our newly-built care home offers exceptional standards of Nursing, Residential, Dementia and Respite care for 70-residents.

Senior Care Assistant Contract

• £14.52 per hour
• Contracted to 48 hours per week
• Paid DBS, pension, uniform provided
• 5.6 weeks annual leave (based on a full time contract)

Role Overview

As Senior Care Assistant, you will guide and support your team in delivering safe, high quality, person centred care that makes a real difference every day to our residents.

You will take responsibility for the smooth running of your shift, ensuring care is well organised, consistent and delivered to a high standard. Alongside providing hands on care, you will oversee medication, monitor residents’ wellbeing and respond to any changes, ensuring care remains safe and appropriate.

You will maintain accurate care records and work closely with colleagues, families and healthcare professionals to ensure clear communication and continuity of care.

The successful candidate will be required to work alternate weekends as well as being able to work a mixture of day and night shifts.

We Are Looking For

• NVQ Level 2 in Health & Social Care (minimum), with Level 3 desirable or willingness to work towards
• Medication administration training with competency is essential
• Experience supporting or leading a care team is beneficial
