Job summary

Amey is seeking a Senior Engineer - Bridges to join the Consulting Structures Team. You will lead design delivery for highway bridge schemes, with opportunities to work across the UK.

The role includes mentoring junior engineers and coordinating with clients, suppliers and internal teams in a dynamic, safety‑conscious environment. You should bring Chartered or Incorporated status (ICE/IStructE desirable) and a degree in a relevant field.

Qualifications

• Senior Engineer with Chartered or Incorporated status preferred; knowledge of DMRB and Eurocodes.
• Ability to lead design teams, deliver schemes from feasibility to handover.
• Strong communication, stakeholder management and risk awareness.
• Experience with highway bridges, strengthening, refurbishment and assessment.

Responsibilities

• Lead a design team and manage projects from start to finish, including quotations and handover.
• Prepare and check designs, calculations and drawings to meet quality, cost and programme.
• Coordinate with client and suppliers and attend progress meetings.
• Mentor junior staff and act as Delegated Engineer where appropriate.
• Drive Health and Safety practices and sustainability across projects.
