Job summary

Amey is seeking a permanent Structures Engineer / Bridges Engineer to join the South West Consulting Structures Team. You’ll work on National Highways schemes, with co-location at client sites in Cardiff, Exeter, London, or Bristol and hybrid work three days in the office.

You’ll contribute from feasibility through design to construction, applying DMRB/Eurocodes and developing towards Chartered status, while mentoring juniors and collaborating across disciplines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant subject or demonstrable equivalent.
• Working towards Incorporated or Chartered status with ICE or IStructE is expected.
• Understanding of DMRB and Eurocodes for highway bridge design, strengthening, refurbishment, and assessment.
• Ability to produce technically sound engineering solutions compliant with standards and client requirements.
• Experience in managing and delivering multi-discipline infrastructure projects.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Producing technically sound engineering solutions.
• Taking ownership of management and technical delivery of projects from start to finish.
• Preparing designs, calculations, drawings, and documentation for scheme deliverables.
• Guiding and supporting junior staff in tasks and career development.
• Contributing to bids and work-winning activities.
