Job summary

Amey Consulting in Sheffield is seeking a permanent Senior Engineer to lead structural bridges projects and support the design team leader. You will mentor junior engineers, deliver technically sound solutions, and manage bids from quotation to handover.

The role requires Chartered or ICE/IStructE-aligned status (desirable), experience in CDM and risk assessment, and a strong client liaison focus. Amey offers a generous pension, 24 days leave, and development opportunities.

Qualifications

• Developed experience in Structures field, gained in an engineer role or equivalent.
• Ability to produce or oversee deliverables that meet technical standards.
• Proven capability to lead projects from start to finish and mentor staff.
• Good understanding of CDM and risk assessment.
• Strong interface management and collaboration with other disciplines.
• Experience with bid preparation and work-winning activities.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team delivering technically sound structural solutions.
• Take ownership of projects from quotation to handover.
• Prepare and check designs, calculations, drawings and documents.
• Oversee junior staff and mentor them.
• Contribute to bids and work-winning activities.
• Liaise with client and suppliers at peer level and attend progress meetings.
• Drive health and safety practices within the team.
