Job summary

Amey in Sheffield is seeking a permanent Principal Structures Engineer to lead our bridges team. You will provide technical leadership to design teams and manage complex highway structures projects, ensuring quality, cost-effectiveness, and timely delivery.

The role requires Chartered Civil or Structural Engineer with ICE/IStructE, extensive experience in highway bridges, and proficiency in Lusas or Midas. You will engage clients, manage budgets, and mentor staff across locations while

Qualifications

• Chartered Civil or Structural Engineer with ICE/IStructE.
• Bachelor's, Master's or PhD in Civil/Structural Engineering.
• Knowledge of CDM and risk assessment and ability to act as Principal Designer.
• Familiar with DMRB and Eurocodes.
• Ability to apply engineering theory to complex situations.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership to design teams and clients.
• Lead design management, calculations, drawings and documentation.
• Manage project budgets and costs to deliver commercial success.
• Engage with clients and suppliers and present proposals.
• Lead bid preparation with accountability to the bid director.
• Manage people and teams across locations.
• Develop practical, sustainable bridge solutions.
• Perform structural analysis and assessment calculations.
• Oversee production of carbon and cost estimates, 3D models and reports.
• Represent structures practice in multi-disciplinary projects.
