Job summary

Amey is seeking a Senior Engineer (Bridges) in Edinburgh to join our Consulting Structures team. You will lead a locally based, single-discipline team, delivering technically sound engineering solutions from quotation through handover.

You will prepare and check designs, calculations, drawings and documentation, manage risk, and drive health and safety practices while mentoring junior staff and contributing to bids and client liaison.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in an appropriate subject or demonstrable equivalent further learning.
• Incorporated or Chartered status with the ICE or IStructE is desirable and may be essential on particular contracts.
• Very good working knowledge of relevant software and analytical tools (e.g. LUSAS, Autodesk Structural Bridge Design).

Responsibilities

• Leading a team, producing technically sound engineering solutions.
• Taking ownership and leading projects from start to finish, from preparing the quotation to handover.
• Preparation and checking of designs, calculations, drawings and documentation.
• Overseeing junior staff and contributing to their development and actions.
• Liaising with client and supplier representatives at peer level and attending progress meetings.
• Managing a small, locally based, single-discipline technical team and delivering their workload.
• Contributing to bids and the general work-winning function.
• Driving health and safety practices within the team.
