Job summary

WSP in the UK & Ireland is seeking an experienced Civil/Bridge Engineer in Wrexham to lead and review bridge design, oversee strengthening and repair works, and provide civil and structural support across teams.

You will conduct feasibility studies, prepare specifications, reports and health and safety risk assessments, review drawings, manage fees, and supervise junior staff. The role offers hybrid working, professional development, and involvement in high-profile rail and highways projects.

Qualifications

• Professional qualification as CEng/MICE or MIStructE
• Experience with bridge design, maintenance and assessment
• Understanding Eurocodes and sector standards (e.g. Network Rail)
• Experience with FE analysis and parametric design
• Commercial awareness and cost management
• Strong report-writing and team leadership skills

Responsibilities

• Lead and review bridge design and strengthening/repair works
• Review CDM documentation and risk assessments
• Provide general civil/structural engineering support to other teams
• Perform feasibility studies and options appraisals
• Prepare/review specifications, reports and fee estimates
• Supervise junior team members
