Job summary

WSP is seeking a qualified Bridge Engineer in Manchester to lead design and inspection work across civil projects. You will guide bridge strengthening, prepare technical reports and ensure CDM compliance, while supporting junior engineers.

The role sits in a vibrant Manchester office with access to public transport and opportunities to work on HS2, Network Rail and local authorities. WSP values development and collaboration.

Qualifications

• Professional qualification with IStructE or ICE; chartered status highly preferred.
• Proven bridge design, maintenance and assessment experience.
• Familiar with Eurocodes and sector standards (Network Rail, DMRB).
• Experience with FE analyses and parametric design methods.
• Commercial awareness and cost management experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead and review bridge design and strengthening/repair work.
• Provide civil/structural engineering support to teams.
• Conduct feasibility studies and option appraisals.
• Prepare/review specifications, reports and CDM docs.
• Supervise junior team members and mentor colleagues.
• Review drawings and prepare fee estimates.
