Job summary

WSP in the UK & Ireland is seeking a Senior/Principal Engineer to drive civil and bridge project delivery, mentoring junior staff and ensuring quality on time and budget.

Based in our South West & Wales Civil and Bridge Engineering team, you will design bridges in the UK and overseas, support broader civil works, and contribute to feasibility studies and cost estimates while collaborating with major clients.

Qualifications

• Bridge design, maintenance and assessment experience on sites and in design offices.
• Project management experience on bridge projects.
• Knowledge of DMRB and MCDHW for structural schemes.
• Understanding of Eurocodes in bridge design.
• Experience with steel, reinforced and prestressed concrete bridges.
• Experience with grillage, space frame and FEM software (LUSAS/Superstress/SAM).
• Strong communication and client handling skills.

Responsibilities

• Bridge design and management of UK and overseas projects.
• Bridge strengthening and repair; inspections and assessments.
• Provide civil/structural engineering support to other teams.
• Feasibility studies and options appraisals.
• Prepare documents, reports, and risk assessments; outline cost estimates.
• Prepare fee estimates; supervise junior team members and CAD technicians.
