Job summary

Immunocore Ltd. is seeking a Senior Scientist I - Characterisation to advance characterisation of biopharmaceutical products. You will drive HPLC-based peptide mapping, MS analyses, and PTM profiling for recombinant proteins and antibodies, contributing to development and comparability studies.

The role involves independent testing, protocol writing, data interpretation, and collaboration across teams to ensure high-quality characterisation data in a GMP-aware environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in development of HPLC-based peptide mapping and MS characterization of recombinant proteins or antibodies.
• Glycosylation analysis of recombinant proteins or antibodies.
• Independently coordinated extensive testing of protein biomolecules.
• Characterisation of proteins expressed in microbial and mammalian systems.
• Understanding of expected post-translational modifications.
• Bench-based biopharmaceutical laboratory experience.
• Expertise in electrophoretic, chromatographic, or mass spectrometry methods.
• Experience in assay development.
• Familiar with biopharmaceutical stability study principles.
• Proven ability to work in diverse teams and drive changes.
• Presented detailed scientific findings to internal/external audiences.

Responsibilities

• Characterise drug substance and product impurity.
• Perform protein sequence and PTM identification, incl. glycosylation analysis.
• Support process development by characterising intermediates.
• Develop characterization methods for ImmTAX, including peptide mapping (LC-MS/MS) and intact mass analysis.
• Design biochemical characterization, chemical stability and comparability studies.
• Contribute to writing study protocols and reports.
• Independently testing and proposing new experiments based on data.
• Set priorities for own work and team projects.
• Share knowledge across departments; mentor others.
• Ensure laboratory records are up to date and accurate; guide equipment use.
• Present findings to meetings with colleagues, senior management and partners.
• Adhere to Immunocore EHS policies.
