Gibson Recruitment Limited in South Lanarkshire is seeking an experienced Construction Business Development Manager to drive growth for a growing civil engineering contractor. Reporting to the board, you will lead pricing, pitching and tender submissions across earthworks and land drainage projects.

The role requires strong tendering expertise, excellent client relations, and the ability to translate client needs into winning proposals while ensuring SHEQ compliance and effective post-tender

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years earthmoving business development experience.
• Strong health & safety practice knowledge.
• Proven track record of delivering profitable projects.
• Ability to price work accurately from first principles.
• Good understanding of temporary works and related costs.
• Confident with Excel and Word for proposals and reports.

Responsibilities

• Actively seek earthworks and remediation opportunities from £100,000 to £5,000,000.
• Review tender enquiries, scopes of work and commercial requirements.
• Produce accurate estimates from first principles for earthworks and land drainage.
• Prepare quantity take-offs from drawings and schedules.
• Develop bills of quantities and schedules of rates.
• Assess methods, temporary works, plant, labour and site resources.
• Prepare subcontract and supplier enquiries and evaluate quotations.
• Attend pre-tender meetings, site visits and client discussions.
• Produce tender summaries, qualifications and submission documents.
• Support tender adjudications and finalize tender price with senior leadership.
• Assist with post-tender reviews, handovers and project kick-offs.
• Ensure SHEQ compliance in contracts.
• Manage key client relationships during contract durations.
• Understand client needs and generate sales opportunities.
• Manage BD budgets and events; report to directors.
