Job summary

Cloudflare for SaaS is seeking a software engineer to design, build, and operate the backend services and RESTful APIs powering customer domains. You will evolve the control plane to scale to tens of millions of domains, improve certificate and domain workflows, and ensure reliability across distributed systems.

You will collaborate with product managers and engineers, write technical specs, review code, and contribute to observability and incident response.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional backend experience building reliable services.
• Experience designing, building, and operating distributed systems.
• Experience designing and evolving RESTful APIs used by external customers.
• Working knowledge of SQL and PostgreSQL, including schema design.
• Experience with Kubernetes and modern Unix/Linux environments.
• Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills and ownership in production.
• Experience with observability tools: metrics, logs, tracing, alerts, SLOs.
• Familiarity with PKI/TLS, DNS, or certificate management; ability to learn Go.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate backend services and RESTful APIs for Cloudflare for SaaS.
• Improve scalability, reliability, and performance of control-plane systems.
• Collaborate with product and engineers; write specs, review code, and instrument services.
• Model ownership and distributed state across services and configuration stores.
• Develop observability, alerts, and incident response processes.
• Work with teams across engineering and product to ship reliable features.
