Job summary

Cloudflare is seeking a talented Senior Systems Engineer to join the Security Rules team in the United Kingdom. You will design and operate the software that powers our security products and scale a high-growth network.

You will own complex technical problems, mentor engineers, and shape the architecture of distributed services that run at Cloudflare’s scale, using Rust, Go and other modern tools. Expect on-call duties and fast-paced collaboration.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of relevant professional experience with a technology company.
• Strong programming skills in Rust, Go, C++, or a similar systems-level language.
• Experience with monitoring, alerting and debugging high volume production systems.
• Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies, such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience with databases (PostgreSQL, Clickhouse and Memcached).
• Experience leading complex technical projects and mentoring engineers.

Responsibilities

• Lead complex technical projects from design through production operation.
• Mentor engineers and provide high-quality code and design feedback.
• Design, implement, and maintain software systems for Cloudflare's security products (e.g., Rate Limiting, WAF).
• Collaborate with security, network engineering, SRE, and product management to design scalable solutions.
• Review peer work and help raise engineering standards across the team.
• Operate in a fast-paced but sane work environment with on-call flexibility.
