About the role

Cognito is looking for a financial services and fintech media and communications expert. You will have the opportunity to work with some of Cognito's most exciting clients from fast growth companies to established companies looking to grow their profile. The client portfolio includes leading financial services, fintech and payments clients based in London and the US.

This is an ideal role for an established account manager, who is looking for their next role in a specialist, integrated and international consultancy.Cognito is ideally looking for someone who has specific experience working with financial services and FinTech organisations - including banks, asset managers, exchanges and market structure businesses, alternative investors, professional service businesses and FinTech companies of all shapes and sizes.

Working directly with senior communications teams and C-suite spokespeople within client organisations, as well as directors and account executives within Cognito, you will be responsible for the oversight and high-quality delivery of all client deliverables and coordinating the day-to-day running of PR accounts, ensuring work is delivered on time, on budget and to the Cognito standard.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Independently oversee the day-to-day client relationships and provide strategic communication guidance for clients across fintech and payments portfolio.
  • Ensure ongoing team planning on accounts, maintaining consistent communication around KPIs and account plans.
  • Create compelling content - by-lines, blogs, pitches, social media posts.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with clients and journalists.
  • Provide guidance and motivation for client team members to produce high quality work,.
  • Proactively seek success for clients by staying abreast of industry trends.
  • Develop sector expertise enabling smart insights and counsel to clients.
  • Proactively manage and maintain relationships with senior stakeholders within the client business.
  • Develop managerial and commercial acumen to drive the long-term retention and success of accounts.
  • Work with the senior team to grow existing and win new business, networking for leads, developing opportunities and cultivating relationships with existing clients where appropriate.
  • Work with account leads to develop client strategy and execute programs from start to finish.

Knowledge/Skills requirement

  • A minimum of 4 years' communications experience ideally agency, with experience working with clients in our core sectors (financial services, investment, capital markets, banking, FinTech, professional services, sustainable finance)
  • Excellent media contact book in financial services, tech and fintech
  • Self-starter with a creative and entrepreneurial mindset with a track record of putting ideas into practice and assessing results.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to independently manage multiple projects at once.
  • A team player with the ability to demonstrate enthusiasm, motivation and commitment with initiative and a persuasive manner
  • High level of energy and integrity, demonstrates respect for a diversity of opinions and styles, and is not afraid of accountability and responsibility
  • Ability to think strategically and execute quality output under tight deadlines
  • Ability to travel from time to time when needed
