Job summary

Brookhaven School in Bury is seeking a Teaching Assistant to support SEND pupils in our specialist setting, with a start date in September 2026. The role involves working under the guidance of teaching staff to facilitate learning and to assist in managing pupils and the classroom.

We welcome candidates who can demonstrate NVQ 2 or equivalent, experience with SEND, teamwork, a positive ethos and safeguarding awareness.

Qualifications

• NVQ 2 or equivalent in teaching assistance.
• Some experience of working with children with SEND.
• The ability to work effectively within a team environment, understanding classroom roles and responsibilities.
• The ability to promote a positive ethos and role model positive attributes.
• Good level of interpersonal, numeracy and literacy skills.
• An understanding of Safeguarding procedures and can promote the welfare and safety of children that they come into contact with.

Responsibilities

• Work under the instruction/guidance of teaching staff to undertake work/care/support programmes.
• Enable access to learning for pupils and assist the teacher in managing pupils and the classroom.
