Job summary

Brookhaven School in the West Suffolk area is seeking an experienced Teaching Assistant to support SEND pupils in a specialist setting. You will work under the guidance of teaching staff to deliver care, learning activities and assist with classroom management.

The role requires teamwork, good numeracy and literacy, and an understanding of safeguarding. You will help create a positive ethos and enable access to learning for every pupil.

Qualifications

• NVQ 3 Teaching Assistant or equivalent qualification or experience.
• Experience working with children with SEND.
• Ability to work effectively within a team environment.
• Ability to promote a positive ethos and model positive attributes.
• Good interpersonal, numeracy and literacy skills.
• Understanding of safeguarding procedures.

Responsibilities

• Work under the instruction/guidance of teaching staff to undertake work/care/support programmes.
• Help enable access to learning for pupils and support the teacher in managing pupils and the classroom.
• Assist in delivering learning activities and care as directed by teachers.
• Support safeguarding and welfare of children in the classroom.
