Job summary

Knight Education is seeking a SEND Learning Support Assistant for a Hampshire independent school from September 2026. This is a full‑time, permanent role with standard hours (Mon–Thu 8:30–16:00, Fri 8:30–13:00).

You will work under the teacher’s guidance to support pupils’ education, personal and social development, monitor needs, and contribute to the school’s inclusive programme. The successful candidate will be resilient, cheerful, patient and a strong team player, committed to safeguarding.

Responsibilities

• Support the education, personal and social development of pupils under the teacher’s guidance.

• Provide support to pupils at playtime as necessary.

A leading independent school in Hampshire is seeking a SEND Learning Support Assistant from September 2026. This is a full time and permanent role.

This independent special school is dedicated to supporting children with Autistic Spectrum Disorder/Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs. You’ll be there to help them learn, develop their abilities and raise their self-esteem. You will need to be resilient and dedicated.

Standard working hours - Monday to Thursday 8.30-4pm and Friday 8.30 - 1pm

• Under the teacher’s clear guidance, to support the education, personal and social development of pupils in the class including those with special needs and to establish a positive relationship with pupils.
• To undertake activities to assist in monitoring the personal, social and emotional needs of pupils.
• To develop positive relationships with pupils to assist pupil progress and attainment.
• To assist in the devising of pupils’ individual targets and their monitoring and review.
• Support pupils as part of a planned inclusion programme.
• To support the child at playtime as necessary.

The Head is looking for someone who has experience of working with children, has a cheerful and positive outlook, is patient and has the ability to remain calm and works as part of a team.
