Job Title: Teaching Assistant (SEND)

Location: Liverpool

Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday

Contract: Long-term position

Job Description

Chalk education are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join a team on a full-time, long-term basis. The successful candidate will be supporting pupils with Autism, ADHD, and behavioural needs, helping them to access learning and develop both academically and socially within a supportive school environment.

You will work closely with class teachers, the SENCO, and other professionals to provide tailored support to individual pupils and small groups, both in and out of the classroom.

Alongside the staff you will be responsible for safeguarding and protecting the welfare of children and young people.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with Autism, ADHD, and behavioural needs
  • Support pupils with emotional regulation, engagement, and positive behaviour strategies
  • Assist with the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behaviour support plans
  • Encourage independence, confidence, and positive social interaction
  • Support learning activities across the curriculum
  • Maintain a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment
  • Communicate effectively with teaching staff and support teams
Essential Requirements
  • Previous experience working with children or young people, ideally within a school or SEND setting
  • Experience supporting SEND, particularly Autism, ADHD, or behaviour (must be referenceable)
  • A patient, resilient, and empathetic approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to manage challenging behaviour calmly and effectively
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
