A leading educational support service in Thrapston is seeking a SEND Learning Support Mentor to help learners aged 5 to 14 overcome barriers to education. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in supporting children with SEMH and trauma. This role offers full-time hours during term time only, competitive pay, and a pathway to a permanent contract. This opportunity also includes access to training in positive behaviour management and other areas crucial for supporting diverse learners.
Elmtree Learning Partnership will be opening the doors to a new site in Thrapston from September 2025 under the name Willow Tree Learning. This service will be part of the wider Elementa Education Group family which operate a multi-site Alternative Learning Provision / Alternative Education Provision service and also Elmtree Grove School, an independent SEND School for primary-aged learners. Our ALP / AEP service supports primary and secondary-aged pupils with EHCPs, relating mainly to ASC, SEMH, with their main headquarters based in Weston Super Mare. The ALP / AEP operates a ‘revolving-door’ offering whereby students stay at the provision for up to 18 weeks, either on a part-time basis before returning to mainstream education or attending a special school. Student places are funded by local school or local authority referral. We are recruiting a new team for the new site in Thrapston to support learners aged 5 - 14 years old (KS1, KS2 & KS3.)
We are seeking applicants for the SEND Learning Support Mentor role with good previous experience of having worked with and supported learners with additional needs relating to SEMH & trauma who may also have other needs relating to ASC / ASD. The ideal person will be able to act as a positive role model and deliver an alternative education curriculum. Many of the learners have not engaged in education for a significant amount of time so an individual approach for each child is commonly necessary. If you have already had training in positive behaviour management such as Team Teach / PBM / MAPA and/or THRIVE training we would be particularly interested in hearing from you. If you have practical experience of working with children displaying challenging behaviour and are successful in your application for this post, Team Teach training will be offered free of charge and would be a requirement of the post.
The working day is from 9:00am to 3:30pm, Monday to Friday, term time only.

The role is intended to transfer to a permanent contract upon successful completion of the trial period (60 paid days.)
