Qualifications

• Have previous experience supporting children or young people with SEND
• Experience within a school, specialist provision, care, residential or youth-work setting is desirable
• Be patient, resilient and able to remain calm in challenging situations
• Able to build positive and professional relationships with pupils
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Reliable and able to commit to a full-time, long-term position
• Committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people

Responsibilities

• Providing 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEND
• Supporting pupils with needs including Autism, ADHD, SEMH and learning difficulties
• Helping pupils engage with lessons and classroom activities
• Supporting children's communication, social and emotional development
• Encouraging independence, confidence and positive behaviour
• Providing additional support to pupils who may display challenging behaviour
• Following individual education, behaviour and support plans
• Working closely with teachers, SENCOs and other education professionals
• Helping to maintain a safe, positive and inclusive learning environment
• Supporting pupils throughout the school day, including during break and lunchtime where required
