Empowering Learning are recruiting a Learning Support Assistant to support primary pupils at a specialist education provision in Colchester. The role is initially 12 weeks temporary-to-fixed-term, with an opportunity for extension or permanent employment.

Salary, location and hours are detailed below. The successful candidate will provide one-to-one and small-group support for pupils with SEND, including those who have faced trauma or adversity.

Qualifications

  • Experience with SEND and SEMH is advantageous but not essential.
  • Resilient, patient and able to stay calm in a fast-paced environment.
  • Confident using ICT to support learning.
  • Able to build positive relationships with pupils who may have experienced trauma or adversity.
  • Willing to undertake relevant training and develop your skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one and small-group support to primary pupils with SEND needs.
  • Support children who may have experienced trauma or adversity.
  • Build positive, trusting relationships and promote appropriate behaviour.
  • Assist with interventions and contribute to planning, assessment and monitoring pupil progress.
  • Support pupils’ learning, progress, attainment and wellbeing.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, carers and colleagues.
