Job summary

London South East Colleges is seeking a dedicated support assistant to help learners with SEND access education and college services. You will foster independence, adapt support to individual needs, and work closely with staff, families and professionals to promote positive outcomes.

The role involves enabling learners with diverse needs to engage with programmes, and to develop study skills within a respectful, inclusive learning environment.

Qualifications

• Strong literacy and numeracy skills.
• Clear understanding of safeguarding and equality.
• Experience with learners with additional needs (SEN).
• Ability to support personal care and mobility with sensitivity.

Responsibilities

• Provide person-centred support to learners with SEND.
• Help learners access College services and activities.
• Support development of learning and study skills and EHCP outcomes.
• Adapt support for individuals or small groups to develop independence.
• Maintain calm, professional, and learner-focused interactions.
