Job summary

Rise Technical Recruitment Limited is seeking a Learning Support Assistant for a Bromley, South London position. This part-time, term-time only role offers 3 days per week with a pro rata salary around £26,803–£27,597 plus training and development opportunities.

The role involves 1:1 and small group support for learners with SEN, helping them access college life and develop independence, under a supportive Further Education college.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting learners with SEN or additional needs.
  • Level 2 English and Maths or willingness to achieve.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; safeguarding mindset.

Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small group learning support to learners.
  • Assist learners to access learning programmes and college services.
  • Support personal care, mobility and wellbeing where required.
  • Help learners develop independence, study skills and self-advocacy.
  • Support the implementation and review of individual support plans and EHCP outcomes.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff, parents/carers and external agencies.
  • Ensure assistive technology and specialist equipment are available and operational.
  • Act as College First Aider (training provided).

Learning Support Assistant - Part Time (BBBH280471) South London, England

Salary: GBP26000 - GBP27500 per annum

3 days per week | Term Time Only | Long-term contract (12 months+ / ongoing)
Salary: £26,803 – £27,597 pro rata (term time only) + Training & Development + First Aid Training
Location: Bromley (South London)

This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established Further Education college, where you will play a vital role in helping learners achieve their educational goals, develop independence, and access every aspect of college life.

Working closely with curriculum staff and the Learning Support team, you will provide 1:1 and small group support, remove barriers to learning, and help create an inclusive environment where every learner can thrive.

This role would suit someone with experience supporting learners with SEN or additional needs, excellent communication skills, and a caring, patient approach. Applications are welcomed from candidates with backgrounds in education, care, youth work, support work, or similar sectors.

The Role:

  • Provide learning and accessibility support for learners with Special Educational Needs (SEN)
  • Support students to access learning programmes, college services and enrichment activities
  • Assist with personal care, mobility and wellbeing where required
  • Help learners develop independence, study skills and self-advocacy
  • Support the implementation and review of individual support plans and EHCP outcomes
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff, parents/carers and external agencies
  • Ensure assistive technology and specialist equipment are available and operational
  • Act as a College First Aider (training provided if required)

The Person:

  • Experience supporting learners with SEN, additional needs or vulnerable individuals
  • Good standard of general education with Level 2 English and Maths (or willingness to achieve)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Able to build positive relationships with learners, colleagues and external stakeholders
  • Team player with a proactive and flexible approach
  • Comfortable supporting learners with personal care and mobility where required
  • Committed to safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion
  • First Aid qualification or willingness to obtain one
