Job summary

Smile Education is partnering with a welcoming primary school in Walsall to appoint a SENDCO. The role leads SEND provision, coordinates with staff and external agencies, and drives inclusion and pupil wellbeing.

The successful candidate will liaise with parents and authorities, uphold SEND responsibilities, and guide colleagues through training, ensuring high-quality inclusive practice.

Qualifications

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) required.
  • Experience as SENDCO or in a SEND leadership role.
  • National Award for SEN Coordination or willingness to complete it.
  • Strong knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and legislation.
  • Excellent leadership, communication and organisational skills.
  • Passion for improving outcomes for children with additional needs.

Responsibilities

Location: Walsall, West Midlands

Start Date: ASAP / September 2026

Contract: Full-Time

Salary: £250 per day dependent on experience

Smile Education is working in partnership with a welcoming and forward-thinking primary school in Walsall to recruit a passionate and dedicated Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENDCO). This is an exciting opportunity to join a school that places inclusion, pupil wellbeing and achievement at the heart of everything it does.

The successful candidate will lead and develop the school's SEND provision, working collaboratively with staff, parents, governors and external agencies to ensure every pupil receives the support they need to thrive.

The Role

As SENDCO, you will:

  • Excellent knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and current legislation.
  • Strong leadership, communication and organisational skills.
