Job summary

Flourish Education is seeking an SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Wolverhampton. The role offers day-to-day or long-term work with flexible placements to suit your experience in education.

You will support pupils with SEN, including Autism/ASD, helping them access learning, build confidence and form positive relationships in a calm, inclusive classroom environment.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a primary school setting.
• Experience supporting children with SEN.
• Experience supporting pupils with Autism/ASD is highly desirable.
• Experience managing or supporting challenging behaviour.
• Patient, calm and nurturing approach.
• Ability to build positive relationships with children.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Reliable, flexible and professional attitude.
• Strong school-based reference.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 or small-group support to pupils with SEN.
• Help pupils access the curriculum and participate in classroom activities.
• Support children with Autism/ASD and other additional needs.
• Assist pupils with communication, social and emotional needs.
• Encourage pupils to stay engaged and focused during lessons.
• Support with challenging behaviour in a calm and consistent manner.
• Develop positive and trusting relationships with pupils.
• Encourage independence, confidence and personal development.
• Work closely with the class teacher and wider school team.
• Help maintain a safe, supportive and inclusive learning environment.

We have opportunities available for both day-to-day and long-term work, offering flexibility for candidates who may be looking to gain more experience in education or those seeking a consistent placement within a school.

The successful candidate will support pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs, helping them to access their learning, build confidence and develop positive relationships within the classroom. Depending on the individual role, you may provide 1:1 or small-group support and work closely with the class teacher and wider school team.

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, your responsibilities may include:

• Providing 1:1 or small-group support to pupils with SEN
• Helping pupils access the curriculum and participate in classroom activities
• Supporting children with Autism/ASD and other additional needs
• Assisting pupils with communication, social and emotional needs
• Encouraging pupils to remain engaged and focused during lessons
• Supporting with challenging behaviour in a calm and consistent manner
• Developing positive and trusting relationships with pupils
• Encouraging independence, confidence and personal development
• Working closely with the class teacher and wider school team
• Helping to maintain a safe, supportive and inclusive learning environment

The successful SEN Teaching Assistant will ideally have:

• Previous experience working within a primary school setting
• Experience supporting children with SEN
• Experience supporting pupils with Autism/ASD is highly desirable
• Experience managing or supporting challenging behaviour

Relevant qualifications are desirable but not essential where you have strong, relevant SEN experience.

• £92.58 per day

This SEN Teaching Assistant role is based in Wolverhampton and is easily commutable from surrounding areas including Bilston, Wednesfield, Tettenhall, Sedgley, Dudley, Codsall and Willenhall.
