Job summary

TeacherActive is recruiting an enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant for a mainstream primary school in Chesterfield. The role is full-time and long-term from September 2026 until July 2027, Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 3.30pm.

You will support KS2 pupils with SEN through 1:1 and small group interventions in a busy classroom, helping children engage with their education. The ideal candidate will have Level 2/3 TA qualifications and experience with learning difficulties and challenging behaviours,

Qualifications

• Experience supporting primary-aged children with SEN.
• Experience delivering 1:1 and small group interventions.
• Confidence supporting children with challenging behaviours and learning difficulties.
• Patient, resilient and caring approach.

The school is looking to appoint an SEN Teaching Assistant on a full-time, long-term basis from September 2026 until July 2027, working Monday to Friday from 8.30am to 3.30pm. The successful SEN Teaching Assistant will support KS2 children through 1:1 and small group work, helping pupils with learning difficulties and challenging behaviours to engage positively with their education.

The successful SEN Teaching Assistant will have:

• A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is desirable
• Experience supporting primary-aged children with special educational needs / SEN
• Experience delivering 1:1 and small group interventions
• Confidence supporting children with challenging behaviours and learning difficulties
• A patient, resilient and caring approach
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
