Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Birmingham - Special Needs School and Mainstream
Start Date: January 2026 Monday to Friday
Contract Type: Long-term with the potential to become permanent
Pay: £90/95 per day.

GSL Education is currently seeking a dedicated and passionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a thriving SEN schools in Birmingham from January 2026. GSL are currently closely with a trust in Birmingham who require staff for the new year. This is a fantastic opportunity to support students with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and play a crucial role in their academic and personal development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide one-to-one support for students with EHCPs across various year groups.
  • Deliver small group interventions focused on academic, social, or emotional support.
  • Assist teachers in implementing tailored strategies that meet the individual needs of each pupil.
  • Track student progress and provide feedback to the SENCO and teaching team.
  • Support students with additional needs including autism, ADHD, MLD, SEMH, and Comple needs in both classroom and pastoral settings.
  • Contribute to creating an inclusive, supportive, and safe learning environment.
  • Work collaboratively with staff, families, and external agencies to ensure positive outcomes for students.
Ideal Candidate Will Have
  • Experience working in a school or educational setting, ideally supporting students with SEN.
  • Support workers who have worked with SEN children are encouraged to apply.
  • A strong understanding of EHCPs and the ability to adapt support plans accordingly.
  • Patience, empathy, and a proactive attitude to support diverse learning needs.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • A valid DBS on the update service or willingness to apply for one.
