Job summary

Smile Education are recruiting for an SEN Teaching Assistant to work in primary schools in Rochdale & Oldham. The school is rated ‘good’ and has a welcoming atmosphere.

The role is full time, Monday to Friday, 8:30 to 3:30, supporting children with additional needs in a busy primary setting. Ideal candidates will have an updated DBS or be willing to apply for one, a TA qualification or Health & Social Care level 2/3, and experience supporting SEN students 1:1 or in small groups.

Qualifications

• An up-to-date DBS on the update service or willingness to apply for a new one.
• A teaching assistant qualification or Health & Social Care (level 2 or 3).
• Experience working with SEN children on a 1:1 basis or small groups.
• Experience working with primary or secondary school children.
• At least 2 professional references covering the last 2 years of work history.

Responsibilities

• Encouraging independence within the class and within students, being proactive.
• Develop and concentrate on building a relationship with the children, staff and family members.
• Constant and consistent communication with the class teacher regarding progress and methods.
• Create a secure and positive environment for the child to learn and feel comfortable.

The SEN teaching assistant role would be working full time with children with additional needs , working Monday to Friday 8:30 to 3:30.

The Responsibilities of the SEN Teaching Assistant:

• Encouraging independence within the class and within students, being proactive
• Develop and concentrate on building a relationship with the children, staff and family members.
• Constant and consistent communication with the class teacher, regarding progress and potential methods of work.
